Where faith and evidence-based practice intersect
Be still, and know that I am God…”— Psalm 46:10
We welcome all to engage in the journey of growth and healing through the evidence-based therapy offered at Caritas Counselling. Our goal and deep hope is that all people will encounter a place of peace when they come to counselling here. Whether or not you come with a deep faith in God or alternatively do not practice any sort of faith, our prayer is that something within each person will be able to recognize the space as sacred — a space in which it is safe to open up, to share stories, fears, anxieties, and traumas, and begin to find new hope and healing.
“When we become aware that we do not have to escape our pains, but that we can mobilize them into a common search for life, those very pains are transformed from expressions of despair into signs of hope.”— Henri Nouwen
Sometimes though, individuals are seeking something more. It is a particular passion of ours to work with clients who would like to bring their faith and beliefs into the counselling process. We believe that integrating solid, evidence-based counselling with the healing power of God — through Prayer, Scripture, and simply the explicit welcoming of God into our conversations — brings the potential of great healing and hope for individuals.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”— Romans 15:13
It is always the choice of the particular individual whether, or to what degree you would like to integrate their faith explicitly into the counselling process. It is our pleasure to integrate the elements that you feel comfortable with, and which are important to you, into therapy.
